From as far back as he can remember Jon Harrison wanted to be a singer, inspired by the music of Paul Weller, Tom Petty, James Taylor and early Bryan Adams.
Jon Harrison began his musical journey at the Leeds Academy in 1996, developing his vocal skills and singing style, within a creatively inspiring collective of fellow artists and musicians.
A chance meeting with Shelly Poole, a member of the chart topping band Alicia’s Attic, led to a writing/production partnership, which helped him explore his vocal style and range.
Songs posted on Jon Harrison’s Myspace page went on to receive thousand’s of plays and the positive feedback from the online music enthusiasts inspired Jon to work towards achieving his childhood dream. Jon Harrison began building up a collection of demo tracks and headed down to London to showcase his music in-front of an industry packed audience. At his late 2006 showcase in London’s trendy Pop nightclub, the venue that recently hosted Estelle’s high profile album launch, Jon Harrison blew the crowd away with his melancholy and deeply emotive vocal style on powerful ballads and his energy and passion on the more up-tempo rock tracks.
Present at the showcase was Downboy Recordings CEO Brian Harris, who was instantly impressed with his talent and confident stage presence. Brian saw his potential both in the UK market and abroad, and signed him to his production label within days….immediately starting the ball rolling on his debut album.
The Snowflakers, a production duo consisting of Chris Ballard & Andy Murray - who have written and produced chart topping hits in the UK, USA and across Europe, were taken onboard to work with Jon Harrison, and together they began the creative process. Enlisting the help of legendary songwriter Russ Ballard, famous for big hits including ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ – Rainbow, ‘God Gave Rock & Roll To You’- Kiss, and songs for Santana, Roger Daltrey and Ozzy Osborne amongst many others, the team got down to business, writing and producing classic rock tracks in collaboration with Jon for his debut album.
The result, a collection of timeless rock classics, including the emotionally charged ‘Breakdown’, an acoustic cut that pulls at the heartstrings of the most cynical of minds, and stand out tracks like the rousing cut ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ and the uplifting and harmonious ‘Take You There’, both of which have received additional production and mixing courtesy of renowned Nashville based sound engineer/producer Chad Hailey, known for his work with multi-platinum selling artists including Neil Young and Sheryl Crow.
With its big rock hits and country music influenced classic road trip track’s, Jon Harrison’s soon to be released debut album has something for everyone, great energy, deeply emotive ballads and an ultimately uplifting feel good vibe.
